5 Things to do with your dog over spring break

Spring break is finally upon us and I will be on a cruise for the next week so I won’t be able to post. I will be back to posting next Monday.

I didn’t want to leave you all hanging, so I compiled a list of 5 fun things you can do with your dog this spring break.

1. Visit the dog park

Lafayette is lucky enough to have a great dog park located on Wabash Avenue just on the other side of the bridge from campus. Shamrock Dog Park is always loaded with pups that are super eager to chase your fur-kid around. Malakai and Jayda go at least once a week. They love it.

2. Take a trip to your local pet friendly store

In case you missed this awesome list from BarkPost, here are 19 pet friendly businesses to take your dog. Jayda and Malakai really like number 19.

3. Go hiking

The weather is supposed to be really nice this week in Lafayette. If you have a car venture out to one of our many parks and hit the trail. Murdock Park has a lot of trails that would be fun to venture out on. If you want to get out of Lafayette, try Turkey Run or Shades State Park near Crawfordsville.

4. Try a new training class

The Greater Lafayette Kennel Club offers all sorts of training classes for your dog. They offer agility classes on Monday’s. Maybe try a new class out and it can turn in to a regular hobby for you and your dog.

5. Play games

When all else fails, what is  more fun than a game of good old fashioned fetch? Hide and seek is another fun one to play in the house if it’s too cold outside. Just a word of advice, it’s a little difficult to play hide and seek with a velcro dog.

I’m really excited for spring break even though I’m going to have to leave my pups with a baby sitter. What will you be doing with your dogs over spring break?
